Scoured from the rocky debris beneath Whitby Abbey's soaring cliffline, raw local elements come together to form a dramatic gothic blade. Deep grey slate gives the silhouette its razor-sharp edge, anchored along the core by a heavily rusted piece of iron scrap—likely washed ashore from an old coastal shipwreck. Scattered ammonite fragments and frost-worn sea glass add intricate texture carved by time and tide.

Housed in a substantial A3 frame, this piece contrasts the harshness of the headland with the dark, storied folklore of the ruins above. Heavy, ancient, and unmistakably tied to the coast.
